showing potentially dangerous levels over Holland.

_ Holland Beyond Coal is a local, grassroots effort devoted to moving our city away from burning dirty coal. Holland is the second happiest city in the country - we take great pride in our beautiful downtown, picturesque parks and scenic lakeshore and want to protect and preserve it. Coal threatens our health and our environment. It is a major trigger of asthma and is the number one source of mercury pollution nationwide. It pumps toxins like lead, arsenic, sulfur dioxide and smog into our air and water, making fishing and swimming in our own Lake Macatawa a health hazard. We can do better. We MUST do better; the future of Holland depends on it.

Right now, the Holland Board of Public works has proposed an expansion of the James DeYoung coal plant. This makes no sense. We should not be investing in outdated coal technology but instead moving our city forward by investing in clean technology and energy efficiency. We urge the Holland Board of Public Works to stand up for our health and our future and support a sustainable long-term energy plan that moves Holland away from coal! Join us.
